WAMU 88.5 and American University have entered into an agreement with Atlantic Gateway Communications, based in Rockville, Md., for the sale of WRAU 88.3 in Whaleyville, Md.
The closing took place on Friday, June 11, 2021, which is when Atlantic Gateway Communications assumed ownership of the 88.3 signal.

Currently, the WRAU audience makes up just over 2% of WAMU’s weekly broadcast audience. Selling WRAU will give WAMU an opportunity to focus its resources on the Washington, D.C., region by cultivating audiences in the high-density metropolitan area through digital platforms and new broadcast formats.
